Control of the biomes

The reveal describes powerful Heralds controlling each biome. Later development planning frames bosses as major goals connected to exploration, equipment, cooking, building, and mastery of the world.

Preparation for a Herald

The survival-loop post names crafted equipment, discovered loot, armour, and stat-boosting meals as preparation for bosses and exploration. Terrain manipulation, biome resources, and a secure home belong to the same preparation loop.

How Heralds organize progression

Each biome is described as having a controlling Herald, giving regional exploration a major endpoint. Gathering local resources, finding equipment, improving armour, cooking meals, building, and learning the terrain all support the same boss-led structure without turning the sandbox into a fixed quest checklist.

Gust Beetles

Experimental Gust Beetles generate rising cloud gusts that lift a character; the same alpha work also explores gliding and vertical airspace.

Rising gust clouds

Pugstorm calls Gust Beetles an experimental movement creature. Their clouds push a character upward, creating an alpha prototype for vertical travel through open air.

Movement interactions

The movement blog presents Gust Beetle updrafts alongside gliding, floating terrain, launch forces, and tumble physics. It does not publish exact interactions between those systems.

A creature that changes airspace

Instead of acting only as an obstacle or target, the Gust Beetle creates a temporary vertical current in the environment. That updraft can supply height for aerial travel and connects the creature directly with floating terrain, the experimental Glider, momentum, and Pugstorm's goal of making airspace part of progression.
